Spotlight on Learning
Students at Hance were recently treated by the PTO to a special assembly featuring Parker Basketball Jones in which he talked about kindness and the importance of being respectful, accountable, motivated and safe. Students were entertained by and participated in exciting basketball tricks, showed off their best respectful and kind behavior, and even danced with their teachers!

Second graders were treated to a visit from Ash, a screech owl from the National Aviary, and learned about different habitats and the birds that live in them.

Motivational speaker Jon Pritikin visited Hance Elementary to talk to students about his experiences overcoming a speech problem and bullying. One of the world's strongest men and Guinness World Record Holder, Mr. Pritikin entertained the students with feats of strength, including tearing a ream of paper in half, while reinforcing his messages about what it means to be kind and that everyone can be kind.

Hance Elementary celebrated Veterans Day with a special breakfast for students and their veteran parents and grandparents followed by a parade through the school.

Giving your best effort, being accountable for your own actions, and spreading kindness was the theme of our PTO assembly this week. Students watched as “Basketball Jones” did tricks (some involving them) and spoke to them about those lifelong lessons.

Disney Day is on Thursday, March 27. All students are encouraged to dress in their Disney finest with a sing-along scheduled at the end of the day.

The HPTO gets 20% back to use toward teacher luncheons when you turn in your receipts from either the Wexford or Cranberry location.

The entire community is invited to join student leaders in grades 2-12 and Pine Township at its Earth Day Event on Saturday, April 26, from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm.
