Students at Hance were recently treated by the PTO to a special assembly featuring Parker Basketball Jones in which he talked about kindness and the importance of being respectful, accountable, motivated and safe. Students were entertained by and participated in exciting basketball tricks, showed off their best respectful and kind behavior, and even danced with their teachers!

Second graders were treated to a visit from Ash, a screech owl from the National Aviary, and learned about different habitats and the birds that live in them.

Motivational speaker Jon Pritikin visited Hance Elementary to talk to students about his experiences overcoming a speech problem and bullying. One of the world's strongest men and Guinness World Record Holder, Mr. Pritikin entertained the students with feats of strength, including tearing a ream of paper in half, while reinforcing his messages about what it means to be kind and that everyone can be kind.

Hance Elementary celebrated Veterans Day with a special breakfast for students and their veteran parents and grandparents followed by a parade through the school.
