It was so nice to have a full week with the students. We started off the week at our monthly staff meeting discussing the importance of designing creative, engaging lessons throughout the month of May because we want to ensure learning continues, regardless of how many days are left.

PTO Committee sign-ups are open for next school year and the ice cream social is in danger of being canceled if a few key positions are not filled. Available positions include raffle coordinator, day of inside manager and volunteer coordinator.
We definitely sailed the stormy seas over the last week or so. Thank you so much to all of our families, students, and staff members for pulling together and showing what it means when we say “All HANCE on Deck.”
It is hard to believe we are into May. While this month tends to be extremely busy with fun, end-of-year events, we are still focusing on maximizing instructional time to ensure students have met grade-level mastery.
The annual Hance Picnic will be held on Friday, May 30. Mrs. Giran will be grilling her famous hotdogs. Students will purchase/pack their lunch as usual, but this year, the HPTO will provide a dessert for students.
Grades 1 through 3 field day is on Wednesday, May 14, with Kindergarten on Thursday, May 15.
Welcome back, everyone! This last quarter is one of my favorites because we really see students flourish and shine. There are also many opportunities for parents to volunteer and see firsthand how impressive our Hance family is.
As we approach the much-needed Spring Break, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and partnership throughout this school year. Together, we've navigated challenges and celebrated triumphs, always with the best interest of our students at heart.
This week, things have been a bit “different” at Hance. Have your students come home and told you the staff seems a bit goofy? The adults have been enjoying an “Underground Spirit Week.” They enjoyed dressing in tropical colors, denim, monochromatic, and as Pirates.
Springtime is upon us. With spring comes outdoor recess and outdoor recess requires some reteaching of expectations. We have been seeing an uptick in students putting their hands on each other and have been talking about this on the daily announcements.
Giving your best effort, being accountable for your own actions, and spreading kindness was the theme of our PTO assembly this week. Students watched as “Basketball Jones” did tricks (some involving them) and spoke to them about those lifelong lessons.
The HPTO gets 20% back to use toward teacher luncheons when you turn in your receipts from either the Wexford or Cranberry location.
