Halloween/Fall Parades and Parties on October 29
In an effort to provide students with a memorable experience for Halloween and/or fall celebrations, we have designed a safe way to allow students and their classmates to enjoy both a parade and classroom party activities. Students may wear costumes or fall or Halloween themed clothes to school on Thursday, October 29. Please keep reading for grade level and costume specifications.
All students should wear their costumes to school. Please be mindful that your child will wear this for the entire school day and will be having class to learn content during the day.
Costume Guidelines for ALL Students
- Costume masks are not permitted to be worn due to safety for our students and the visual restrictions that can be caused by costume masks.
- No weapons or weapon lookalikes should be sent in with costumes. These will be confiscated and held in the office for adults to pick up.
- Please plan for costumes that can be taken on or off independently so that students can perform essential daily living functions independently (ex: using the restroom). Students will not be leveraging the bathrooms to change clothes as costumes will be worn during the school day and its entirety.
- No blow-up costumes will be permitted. If a child comes to school in one, parents/guardians will be notified to come pick it up.
- Please practice wearing the costume with your child prior to October 31st so that they know how to manage their school day while wearing their costume or fall attire.
- Please consider costumes that do not have multiple snaps, zippers or ties.
Due to limited parking, Hance will be hosting a Halloween parade for each grade level. This will allow all parents to see their children while adhering to the following parking guidelines. We understand this means some families may have to return to school multiple times throughout the day, but we believe it is the safest plan for our students and families. This also allows us to invite guests indoors should the weather force us to hold the parades in the gym.
- Carpool with friends/family when possible.
- Absolutely no parking on any grass (around the school or the neighborhood)
- Cars are only allowed to park on the right side of the main drive entering Hance. A fire lane must be kept open on the left side.
- Two cars may park in each bus slot.
- Do not block any driveways.
Guests are invited to the parades but must adhere to the schedule below. Students will parade outside (on the walking track), weather permitting. Parents/families will stand in the grassy area inside the track while kids parade on the track or in the gym if it rains. Parties hosted by the homeroom coordinator will happen regardless of weather.
Please see the table of information with specific times and details per grade level for both the parties and parades. Please watch the weather conditions and our website the day of the event (October 31) to see if the parade will be outdoors or indoors based on weather.
Only approved PTO party helpers will be admitted into the building for the designated party times. Younger children are not permitted to attend parties with volunteers. Parents who are the designated fall party parents and signed up through the PTO, your homeroom coordinators will be in touch with party details.
Important: If you would like to send in a small trinket or fall/Halloween-themed item please ensure you have enough for the entire class. We ask that you do not put any names on items sent in so they can be easily passed out. You are able to put who it is from. Please note: no food or candy will be passed out. Thank you for your support. We appreciate your cooperation in advance!
